Hyderabad (23-01-2018): The third edition of Indywood Film Carnival, one of the largest film based events in the world, was concluded successfully in December at Hyderabad-based Ramoji Film City, the largest integrated film studio in the world.

The fourth edition of Indywood Film Carnival will be held at Hyderabad from December 1 to 4. 

All Lights India International Film Festival (ALIIFF), the film festival arm of 10 billion US dollar Project Indywood, has announced that the National award winner Balachandra Menon, a multifaceted personality in Indian Film Industry, will lead the fourth edition of ALIIFF as Festival Director.

The film festival titled ALIIFF 2018 will be held as a part of Indywood Film Carnival at Hyderabad in December 2018. Balachandra Menon has directed 39 movies and acted in over 100 movies.

Balachandra Menon holds a unique world record for handling various sections in film. Apart from acting he has done direction, script writing, story and dialogues in 29 films. American director Woody Alan is in the second position with 26 films. In 2007, the nation honoured him with the prestigious Padma Shri for his valuable contributions to Indian cinema.

Indywood Film Carnival 2017: Round up

A grand meet of movers and shakers from over 100 countries was the major attraction of the third edition of Indywood Film Carnival, a flagship event organized by 10 billion US dollar Project Indywood. The event organized to accelerate foreign direct investment in entertainment sector in the country witnessed huge participation of Middle East-based NRI entrepreneurs.    

UAE-based NRI industrialist Sohan Roy spearheads Project Indywood which is being promoted by 2000 Indian billionaires and corporates. His vision for Indian cinema through the concept of Indywood is simple: Unite the world’s largest Indian Film Industry under one umbrella and upgrade it. His ambitious plan aims to set up 10,000 new 8K/4K projection multiplex screens, 100,000 4K/2K projection home cinemas, 8K/4Kfilm studios, 100 animation/VFX studios and film schools conforming to international standards.

Bollywood actress Jayaprada was bestowed with prestigious Icon of Indian Cinema award on the occasion. Noted senior director cum actor K Vishwanath was also honoured.

K. Senthil Kumar were some of the prominent personalities whom attended the carnival.

Indian Billionaires Club launched

One of the most significant moments of the carnival was the official launch of the Indywood Billionaires Club, a consortium of India’s most influential billionaires. The idea of raising the value of the Indian Rupee and making it equal to the dollar was also mooted, with suggestions to manufacture, use and trade Indian goods for the entertainment sector at first, and later use that to inspire other industries and thus herald an economic reformation. More than 50 billionaires of Indian origin and 200 investors from across the globe attended the inauguration.

He added that in the coming years the volume of foreign direct investment would play a decisive role in conceiving and implementing mega projects.

And amidst all these big ticket launches, the carnival had ample scope for B2B opportunities for the discerning film enthusiast. The All Lights India International Film Festival showcased 130 movies from over 50 countries including several from the Middle East.

Pravasi Ratna Awards distributed

By honouring India’s prominent NRI (Non Resident Indian) sons in the form of the Indywood Pravasi Ratna Awards, Indywood acknowledged their role in shaping the present and future of India, and invited them to join hands for a new, common cause. Held as part of the inaugural function, the awards function honoured leading NRI tycoons who had contributed to the country and to their adopted country in equal measure.

There was also a presentation on the Indywood Film City, which once ready, will have the world’s largest film school.

The carnival had several moments focusing on Middle East investors and programmes dedicated to UAE, including a midnight celebration of UAE’s National Day with fireworks.

The T10 cricket league, which is set to be the sporting pride of UAE had its Indian launch at the carnival. T10 cricket league, a new avatar in sports industry by blending the immense potential of sports and entertainment, is being promoted by UAE-based businessman Nawab Shaji UL Mulk of Mulk Holdings. It perfectly fits with Indywood’s vision of offering 24×7 theatre infotainment to the viewers. Many leading Asian billionaires from the Middle East including the team owners Rizwan Sajan of Danube Group, Dr. Shafi UL Mulk of Global Hawk, Vijay Vyas of Vishal Vyas Group and Sami Syed of Phoenix Group attended the function.

Additionally, eight workshops and three master classes were conducted for an audience comprising aspiring and established filmmakers and student delegates.

Top business honchos, professionals and organizations in Marine, Medical, Media, Entertainment, Education, CSR, IT, Hospitality and Built in India were honoured for their constant efforts and innovative ideas to elevate the standards of the each sector.

Baahubali sweeps awards

Indywood Film Carnival also honoured top trade achievers with international trade awards. The magnum opus movie – Baahubali, directed by S. S. Rajamouli, swept five awards including India’s Pride Award which was shared with Dangal for bringing international fame to Indian movies.

World of business

The Indywood Film Market (IFM) expo enabled networking among major stakeholders in the film industry and generated trade enquiries from foreign and domestic markets worth US$ 300 million including 8K multiplexes, movie investments and a film City. Nearly 3000 delegates from 70 countries attended the expo which hosted over 100 exhibitors and 750 company representatives. Leading technology providers, production agencies and distribution theatre owners participated in the expo, which was held in three gigantic workshop arenas.

Pool of talented youngsters 

More than 2000 youngsters from various parts of the country exhibited their talents at Indywood Talent Hunt. The competitions were held in 22 categories including short film, music, dance, still photography, advertisement, educational video, documentary film, animation character, drama, poster designing, dubsmash, performance art, film quiz, online promotion, music album, DJ, children’s short film, best reporter or journalists, RJ hunt, VJ hunt, film club and model hunt. The winners were rewarded with top-notch 3D tab manufactured by UAE-based Aries Epica, cash prize, a certificate and a trophy.

Former Miss India Simran Ahuja anchored the inaugural ceremony of Indywood Talent Hunt. Eleven juries and guests from various parts of the world were present which included Soo Sung Lee (film director), Axel Stein (Film curator, Germany), Nawaf Al Janahi, K.N.T Sastri, Marianna Borgo, Amir Muhammed (writer and movie maker, Malaysia), Bassam Mohammed Al Thawadi (film producer and director), Nassan Nazer, Laurie Gordon (animation artist), June Robles Lana and Sarath Chandu (film artist). 

Fashion TV marked their presence at Hyderabad by conducting a pageant show at the third edition of Indywood Film Carnival. Rushali Yadav and Sameer Qureshi won the prestigious Face of India title after competing against thousands of contestants from various parts of the country. While Muskaan Bisaria and Sachin Hadpad emerged as the first runners-up and Varsha Choudhary and Divyam Budhuri became second runners-up. Face of India title winner will get direct entry to Asia Model Festival to be held in South Korea and stand a chance to win a feature film contract.
