ഷിക്കാഗോ ∙ ഷിക്കാഗോയിലെ വില്ലോ ബ്രൂക്കിൽ സുഹൃത്തുക്കളോടൊപ്പം ഭക്ഷണം വാങ്ങാനെത്തിയ മലയാളി യുവാവ് എബിൻ മാത്യുവിനെ അപരിചിതൻ കാറിടിച്ച് കൊലപ്പെടുത്തി. കൂടെയുണ്ടായിരുന്ന നാലുപേർക്കും സാരമായ പരിക്കേറ്റു. ഇടിയുടെ ആഘാതത്തിൽ എബിന്റെ നിസ്സാൻ കാർ തകിടം മറിഞ്ഞു. എബി സംഭവ സ്ഥലത്തു തന്നെ മരിച്ചു. പരിക്കേറ്റ മറ്റു നാലുപേരെയും ഗുഡ് സ്മരിറ്റൻ ഹോസ്പിറ്റലിൽ പ്രവേശിപ്പിച്ചു.
ഇടിച്ച കാർ നിത്താതെ പോയെങ്കിലും പ്രതിയെക്കുറിച്ച് സൂചന പൊലീസിനു ലഭിച്ചതായി അറിയുന്നു. 27 കാരനായ എബി മാത്യു അടുത്ത വർഷം നാട്ടിൽ പോയി വിവാ‌ഹം നടത്താനുള്ള ഒരുക്കത്തിലായിരുന്നു.
BURR RIDGE, Ill. (WLS) – A 27-year-old man was killed late Wednesday night in a hit-and-run crash in unincorporated Willowbrook. He was getting ready to start a new life as a married man.
Abin Mathew, of nearby Westmont, was passenger in a silver Nissan Rouge that police said was struck by another vehicle just before midnight on Route 83 near Mockingbird Lane. That vehicle left the scene before police arrived.
The DuPage County Sheriff’s Office announced charges against 19-year-old Marlon Myles of Willowbrook. He is charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Death, a class one felony. Police said he allegedly failed to yield while turning left and struck Mathew’s car while it was traveling southbound on Route 83.
