Another well-organized community event sponsored and organized by Dr. Aney Paul, Rockland County Legislator and her team. All the performed cultural programs were incredible, there were no dull moments throughout the entire evening. The event was a great success due to the fact that it was attended and enjoyed by thousands of people of all backgrounds (Indians, Jewish, African-Americans, European-Americans, Hispanics and etc. The organizers left no detail unattended or to the imagination, for example, they had food catered for the enjoyment of those attended and it was a small representation of the entire Indian cuisine. That evening everyone went home with something special and personal, whether it was a new perspective, a new art form they saw for the first time or simply smitten by the colors and sounds of the night. Many danced, sang and walked down memory lane throughout the night and forgot they had to work the next day. The political line up was impressive, across party lines elected representatives poured in and stayed, attended and participated in the event. Some of the notable people attended the event were: Representatives from Indian Embassy NY, Nassau County Police Department, Ed Day-Rockland County Executive, Bill Weber-NY Senator (R), Michael Lawler-US Congressman, Paul Karukappillil-Rockland County Community Leader/Former FOKANA President & Elijah Reichlin-Melnick-NY Senator (D) and etc. Many people were recognized for their contributions and for their talents. The event was held at Palisades Mall located in West Nyack, NY, right in the heart of Rockland County, NY. This event truly was the talk of town, also remarkable and memorable, leaving many with anticipation for the next year. The major take-away from the night was, its lasting impact on our young people and their impression of what Indian Culture was about in diaspora.
